The Christmas Star

Greetings from the Ng Family - We wish you all a blessed and merry Christmas!!

There is just something about Christmas that lights up everyone, or at least for me. Is it the gatherings or food or presents or the bright Christmas decoration or the joyful Christmas songs? I suppose they all contribute greatly to the cheers around.

As we all celebrate this joyous season, let me take this chance to share a little about the main shining "STAR".

A TV host asked a guy who was decorating the Christmas tree why is there a star at the top of every Christmas tree. "I don't know! it has always been.", he laughed it off.

The star actually symbolizes the star of Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus. I'm sure many have heard about the good news and seen displays/decorations of the nativity scene - baby Jesus in the manger. If you have not, I invite you to find out more.
----
Matthew 2: 1-2

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Matthew 2: 10-11

When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

And what's so special about Jesus that the whole world needs to celebrate his birthday?

Jesus is actually born to save the world through his crucifiction on the cross. Thus, we have Good Friday and Easter Day too.

----

John 3: 16-17

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

This year, the children at the church sunday school spent weeks ahead Christmas to learn about the meaning behind Christmas. Over these few weeks, they have watched videos, did art crafts, sing Christmas songs and even celebration Jesus' birthday in advance. I'm glad that Emma gets a chance to "learn" about Christmas this year even though she probably didn't really understand them. I pray that this truth will grow deep in her heart since young and that she would never lose it.

Here's one of my many favourite songs: "We are the Reason" By Avalon and I wish it will touch your heart as much as it has for me.

Jesus is the gift.

Have you receive it?
