Finally moved!

We've finally moved into our new place!

8 months of waiting, defect check and home renovation went by in a blink! Even though it didn't feel like it was every time I thought about home stuff then, things had indeed just zoomed by faster than I could even capture. We moved into parents-in-law's place as a family of 3 and now, we moved on to our new place with 4!

I had grand plans of moving into new place before I deliver and later on before I return back to work but alas defect check and renovation took longer than we like. I had preferred to do my confinement in private but looking back now, we were blessed to be able to do it at my in-law's place. They had helped out a lot when I was heavily pregnant and during the confinement. Thankful to them for bearing all the inconvenience, mess and din that we've brought to them. It was also a great opportunity for Emma to spend more time with the grandparents.

For the renovation, we engaged our previous contractor and thought it will be as smooth sailing as before. To our dismay, it wasn't a very pleasant experience. Oh well, people (both him and us) do change over the years. Nevertheless, we are thankful that our house is eventually done up. Afterall, it was our first time having to do up a new place from scratch. Our first home was a resale. Things also took a longer time with more renovation and installation work added as we progressed. I must say doing all these while we were busy with Avalyn and home matters was quite a test.

But, Hub took it all on with great stride nearly all alone. We still did the planning and made decisions together but I wasn't as involved as before. With a baby bump followed by new born in tow, I didn't have much time to visit the site, check out the progress and meet the contractors. As if the renovation work was not bothersome enough, I added even more stress to him by being impatient and willful at times (blame it on raging hormones!). I just had to make it up by taking care of the two girls alone on weekends and weekday nights while he went to settle house stuff alone.

With lots love and his very best, Hub worked hard to build a place called home for us. While he was frustrated when things went wrong, he had never once complained about having to do all the packing, dealing with developer, getting quotes, supervising renovation work, buying supplies, cleaning up, unpacking and setting up the house. I don't know how he did it while juggling his work, but he did it! Thank you, dear!!

Through this long bumpy renovation journey, God has also taught us how to be patient and obedient towards his will and timing. Many times, we want things our way but we should really seek God's way. We also learnt to be joyful and keep praying regardless of situation.

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thess 5:16-18.

Last but not least, we want to give thanks to God for this new house. It's much more than what we had prayed and dream for. As we move on to the new journey, we will work harder (and smarter) and continue to pray for more God's blessings upon us. There are still lots things going on and I pray that we can settle down as quickly as we can. More on our new #thomashlynshome soon!

Stay tuned!
