Hope that you have enjoyed all the birthday celebrations! You had a pool party put together by Auntie May at Koh Samui, a non-theme turned Frozen themed party at school, shopping of presents and feasting with grandparents! Many had also showered you with presents - toys, books and clothes! (Thank you!)

 

You asked for ear piercing after seeing your cousin, Xara, having pretty earrings on her. In fact, you started asking for it when you saw your school BFF, Angelina, had it on many months back. So, we finally did it on your birthday!

The challenges that come along with becoming a big brother and sister are so real.

 

One day, Daddy and Mummy shared a big news about having a new baby in time to come. And, this brought about great excitement and fantasy to the big brother or sister-to-be. Then, the excitement gradually changed into a seemingly long period of waiting and changes. Suddenly, Mummy got rounder, tired easily, couldn't carry or run around with him or her and the list goes on. Things then got more challenging when baby arrives. Depending on the age, gender, personality and various factors surrounding the child, he or she might cope with it very differently.

 

5 things for a Big Sibling-to-be to know before new baby arrives

 

As a big sister-to-be, there are lots for Emma to learn and adapt in her new role. Thus, I've been spending more time talking to Emma about being a big sister and helping her understand what lies ahead. I doubt she can be fully prepared for the new baby at 4 years old, but I pray that she can embrace her new role with lesser difficulties by knowing and keeping these 5 things close to her heart. While these might be harder to younger children to understand, I believe the little ones will understand bits and pieces of it over time.

Emma was out for another adventure again! She participated in her first road race organised by Friso at NTUC Xtra @ Kallang Wave Mall last Saturday.

She fell in love in mini motorised cars after she tried one at her cousin place last Dec and keeps thinking about it. So, we decided to bring her out for a spin.

To encourage more precious moment with our little one, Friso is generous to indulge us with an awesome play set (Thank you, Friso!). It got to be the best present for our then sick and recovering girl! Emma was so thrilled as it has been a while since she played at the playground. Now, she could play without us worrying too much about the haze!

Our poor Emma was sick for 1.5 weeks and has just recovered. She started off with cough before runny nose and fever attacked. Thus, we kept her at home for 9 days, including 5 days of weekends and public holiday. These 9 days were quite unbearable for her as she can't get out of the house.

She now gets to play with her friends in the school. However, we are still staying in for most days to avoid the haze. So, this indoor play set has come in really timely and fun for Emma!

She loves it so much and kept saying "this one is hui hui's, ok?". She now climbs up and down the slide like a champ!

Her joy was written all over her face!

And not forgetting, climbing up and down the slide helps to build up her physical strength, independence and confidence.

I like the structure of the slide as it has broad seat at the top of the slide for her to get in position. I have seen some that are so narrow and quite dangerous.
